Update of School Closures

Kia ora Whakamaru School Community

Whilst schools are closed for the 4 weeks announced by the Government, 2 of these weeks are considered school holidays. School holidays are being brought forward so that they are completed within this 4 week period. Holidays will now begin from Monday 30 March to Tuesday 14 April inclusive (a reminder that the Tuesday after Easter Monday is always a closed day for schools).

Our teachers have provided online learning which has been driven by Classdojo and provides opportunities to complete tasks set for individual students on Prodigy (Maths), Epic (Reading) & Studyladder to provide other areas of learning. Please be patient as our we continue to evolve our learning online and ask questions if you have any issues or questions around this format of learning. Thank you to all those who commented and connected to us today.

Today the Ministry of Education has launched Learning from home and Ki te Ao Mārama.  These are two new websites to support teachers, learners, parents and whānau so that learning for children and young people can continue. The websites include resources for parents and whānau, teachers and leaders. Resources span the learning pathway from early learning through to senior secondary, and more resources will be added as they’re developed. We encourage parents to use the resources provided on Classdojo but also have these Ministry websites that you could use independently alongside our school online learning.

If after the 14th of April, schools are still closed we will give further updates of learning from home and communication from the Ministry of Education.
