School Plan for COVID-19

Due to the current information around COVID-19 (Corona virus) we would like to assure our school  community that we have an active Health and Safety Plan in place that is being updated as new information comes to hand. At this time, it is business as usual for Whakamaru School. 

Stage 1 – Prepare – Prevent and Plan

DAY TO DAY PROCEDURES

Ensuring a clean environment

· How to keep clean / germ free will be communicated to students, staff and the community.

· Paper towels and soap/ will be provided in bathrooms for students and staff.

· Cleaners are advised to clean the surface with a neutral detergent followed by a disinfectant solution.  Surfaces that are frequently touched with hands should be cleaned often, preferably daily.

· IT devices will be wiped down by sanitizing wipes after use

 Communicate with staff, children, students and parents/whānau/caregiver community

· Whakamaru Primary will keep the school community informed about current Ministry of Health guidelines and public information announcements.

· Whakamaru Primary will keep the community regularly informed about what the school is doing, how it is prepared and any expectations we have. For example, keeping unwell children at home, leave arrangements for staff etc…

· Whakamaru Primary will keep all staff regularly informed of the pandemic plan and how to support students and staff that become ill via Ministry guidelines.

· Whakamaru Primary will advise on good hygiene practices, regular and thorough hand washing and/or hand sanitising, good cough and sneeze etiquette.

· Whakamaru Primary will take advice from the Ministry re: regional/ local/ national sporting or cultural comps.
