Kia ora koutou katoa nga whanau o tenei kura

Greetings to all our families.

At Whakamaru School, we believe every child is on a journey — and it's our privilege to walk alongside them.

As a small, full primary kura (Years 1–8), we offer more than just education. We provide a place where tamariki are known, valued, and supported to grow as confident, creative thinkers. Our mission is clear: to prepare ākonga for their future, while honouring their identity, language, and culture.

You’ll see strong teaching in reading, writing, and maths — but also deep learning through inquiry, fitness, arts, digital tech, and cultural enrichment. Our values, grounded in KAAHU, shape every decision we make and create a safe, respectful space where student voice is celebrated.

The word ‘Whakamaru’ means to give shelter or safeguard — and we live by that. This is a school where wellbeing matters. A place where your child will be challenged, supported, and cared for.

Whether you’re a current whānau or exploring our kura for the first time, thank you for taking the time to learn more. I invite you to come in, meet us, and see for yourself the learning, laughter, and life happening here every day.

Ngā mihi ki a koutou
